Communication Arts Interactive Annual 12

Ah, fall — and time for the big fat annual honoring the best interactive design of the past year (from the graphic arts perspective). I have all 12 of these sumptuous periodicals. But if you’re not overfond of the lucious scents of the highest quality paper and inks, you can experience the winners online (which you would want to do anyway, of course).

The Tazo Tea site is delightful.

You could spend hours with Churchill and the Great Republic (created for the U.S. Library of Congress by Terra Incognita).

The Time magazine cover portraits package has a really nice interface, no flying pop-up windows, clean, easy to use — and there’s more there than you realize at first. It’s fun.

I think everyone has seen the Leo Burnett site (“Big Ideas come out of Big Pencils”), but if you missed it, go and play.

I’m not very jazzed by the car sites (BMW 3 Series, Mini Roof Studio) and sneaker porn (Converse, Nike), but there’s plenty of that too, in the Advertising category. And more!

Even though there is no Journalism category, I find the selected sites inspiring and provocative. What are your favorites?
